#1 KEY TO WEIGHT LOSS MOTIVATION

What’s your motivation type?

The important thing to know here is that there’s two types of Weight Loss motivation, which most people don’t know…
But it’s EXTREMELY important to know your motivation type for you to actually “flip on” your motivation switch!

The two types are Toward Motivation OR Away From Motivation.

1) Toward Motivation

If your style is toward motivation, then you’re going to hear yourself being excited, saying things like, “I want to look like that.” Or, “I want to be able to run around with my kids.” You will visualize the future and what you will be able to do if you lose the weight.

You will say things like: “I want to be able to make healthy meals.”, “I want to fit back in my jeans from high school.“ You’re going to hear yourself say words like that. If the thought of being a better you in the future excites you, you are a Toward Motivation type.

2) Away From Motivation

However, there is also away-from motivation, which is me. I am this type. I hear myself saying stuff like: “I don’t ever want to look like that again”, “I don’t ever want to feel that again.” We want to move away from a past thought or memory.

Personally, I think of myself being on the beach in my bikini with a cover-up, or hiding under my umbrella and how I DON’T want to ever be that person that hides under their umbrella again.

Which One Are You?

Another example if you’re a toward motivation type may be like: “I want to be able to play with my kids and run around with my kids at the park.” If you’re the away-from motivation type however, you would say something like: “I don’t want to be that parent that has to sit on the bench and watch my kids play at the park.” You’re moving yourself away from the idea of having to sit on the park bench instead of pulling yourself towards an idea of, “I want to do that.“

Once you figure out what your motivation type is, you can start making statements with a pen and paper.

Write down what your Weight Loss motivational statements are.

If you are the Away From Motivation Type, you can use statements like:

  • “I don’t ever want to look like that again.”
  • “I don’t want to hate shopping anymore.”
  • “I don’t want to walk into a dressing room and feel uncomfortable.”
  • “I don’t want to be the person that has to sit on the sidelines.”
  • “I don’t want to be the person that hides under my clothes.”

If your style is Toward Motivation, write it out statements like:

  • “I want to be able to play with my kids.”
  • “I want to be able to run around at the park.”
  • “I want to be able to wear that pair of jeans.”
  • “I want to be in a size six.”

When you start writing out those statements, with your actual motivational type, then you’ll find that it’s easier for you to stay excited about your goals. You will be inspired by the things that you have to do to get there.
